RTD will provide bus shuttle service Feb. 13, 17 and 18 during extended light rail maintenance windows

RTD has rescheduled its maintenance work and bus shuttles that were postponed due to cold temperatures. The work that was initially planned for today on the H and R lines will now take place on Thursday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 17. Additionally, crews will perform track maintenance between Southmoor and I-25•Broadway stations from the start of service to approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18.

H and R Lines

What to expect Thursday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 17:

Crews will perform track maintenance along the I-225 corridor between Florida and Southmoor stations Thursday, Feb. 13, and Monday, Feb. 17. An extended maintenance window will temporarily impact light rail service on the H and R lines between five light rail stations. H and R line trains will not operate on their normal routes between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m. each day of the two-day disruption.

Bus shuttles will replace H and R line trains

  • H Line will not operate between Florida and Southmoor stations between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m., Feb. 13 and 17.
  • R line trains will not operate south of Florida Station between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m., Feb. 13 and 17.
  • R Line service will continue to operate between Peoria and Florida stations.
  • Bus shuttle service will connect customers between Florida and Southmoor stations during the maintenance work.
  • R Line customers will need to connect to the E Line for travel between Southmoor and RidgeGate Parkway stations.

During the work, crews will work to mitigate railhead surface defects by conducting rail grinding between Florida and Southmoor stations. The agency will use the extended maintenance windows to expedite necessary repairs, with the goal of lifting the remaining speed restrictions in . Completion of maintenance work along the light rail corridor will continue depend on several factors, including weather forecasts. E and H Lines

What to expect Tuesday, Feb. 18:

Crews will perform track maintenance for  between Southmoor and I-25•Broadway stations from start of service to approximately 12:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18. During the approximately eight-hour extended maintenance window, crews will conduct rail grinding to mitigate railhead surface defects and work to eliminate the last E Line speed restriction between Yale and Southmoor stations.

The project will temporarily impact E and H line light rail service along RTD’s Southeast Corridor. Bus shuttles will replace light rail trains between Southmoor and I-25•Broadway stations to provide connections for customers in and out of Denver Union Station and the Downtown Loop.

  • E Line trains will temporarily operate every 15 minutes north of I-25•Broadway Station and every 30 minutes south of Southmoor Station during the disruption.
  • H Line trains will not operate north of Southmoor Station. Trains will operate every 30 minutes between Southmoor and Florida stations. H Line customers can transfer to the D Line at I-25•Broadway Station for rail service to and from the Downtown Loop.
  • Regular light rail service on the E and H lines will resume at approximately 12:15 p.m.

Customers whose trips are impacted by the temporary rail disruption are encouraged to use RTD’s Next Ride app to view the adapted E and H line schedules, and to plan a trip using alternate transit options. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for Service Alerts.
