RTD preparing for multiple events in Denver this weekend

The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is preparing for a number of major events in Denver this weekend, including the Avalanche vs. Lightning Stanley Cup Finals game at Ball Arena and PrideFest. The agency is also prepared to communicate changes to planned bus or rail service related to potential crowds associated with the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling. Any modifications to service that are made are for the safety of customers, employees and the community.

Customers are encouraged to plan ahead and anticipate crowds. Customers can maximize their transit experience by planning their trips in advance with the Trip Planner web application, bookmarking Next Ride to track their buses and trains in real-time, purchasing fares in advance with the RTD Mobile Tickets app, and downloading the RTD Transit Watch app to report suspicious activities.

Stanley Cup Finals – Game 5: Colorado Avalanche vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

The Colorado Avalanche take on the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Finals tonight at 6 p.m. at Ball Arena. With the Avalanche up 3-1 in the series, a win tonight would earn them the title of Stanley Cup Champions. RTD anticipates heavy crowds for the game and associated watch parties downtown. There are a variety of bus routes and rail lines to get to and from the events. E and W lines, as well as A and N lines, will operate with additional cars to scheduled trains. PrideFest Festival Parade and 5K Marathon

To accommodate PrideFest events this weekend, RTD will add extra train cars to D, E, H and W light rail lines. Multiple bus routes will be detoured around the events.

• During the PrideFest Festival from Friday, June 24 at 6 p.m. to Sunday, June 26 at 11:59 p.m., the following bus routes will detour: 0, 0L, 6, 8, 9, 10, 15, 15L, 16, 19, 48, 52, 83, 16th Street Mall shuttle.
• From 7 a.m.-1 p.m., Saturday, June 25, Route 10 buses will detour around the Pride 5K event which runs along 14th Avenue from Sherman Street to Cheeseman Park.
• During the PrideFest Parade, which is scheduled to take place from 7 a.m. to noon on Sunday, June 26, downtown bus routes will detour around festival activities in Civic Center Park and on East Colfax Avenue. Affected bus routes include: 0, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 15L, 16, 52, 83L, and the 16th Street MallRide shuttle.

Potential protests associated with the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling

As protests are anticipated in light of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling this morning, RTD will work collaboratively with the Denver Police Department to coordinate changes to bus and rail services in the downtown area as necessary. Customers are encouraged to sign up for Service Alerts in advance to be in the know of any disruptions to service and to use the Trip Planner and Next Ride web apps to plan trips.

Temporary outage of real-time tracking applications due to maintenance

RTD will be making upgrades to its Transit Information Exchange System (TIES) Oracle database on Saturday, June 25 starting at 7 p.m. and continuing through approximately 3 a.m., Sunday, June 26. Applications on RTD’s website that utilize real-time data, such as the Trip Planner and Next Ride, will be impacted due to downtime associated with the upgrades.

The temporary outage will prevent real-time data from displaying on Trip Planner, while Next Ride will be offline. As a result, customers will be unable to track buses and trains during the outage. Customers can still plan their trips using Trip Planner but will not have real-time information displayed.

The Service Alerts page on the website will also be offline, but alerts will continue to be sent to email and text subscribers. Customers are encouraged to sign up for email and text Service Alerts before taking their trip. Schedules will be unaffected by this outage and will be viewable on the website during this time.
