Wellness is hosting two mental health webinars this month
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a month dedicated to raising public consciousness about mental health issues, reducing stigma, and promoting resources for support and treatment. Established to prioritize mental well-being on a global scale, the monthlong initiative fosters dialogue, education and advocacy surrounding mental health challenges. Jennifer Alfonso, Clinical Director of Anger Management Techniques, will lead two webinars hosted by RTD’s Wellness and Benefits Division this month to provide employees with tools and tips to increase their mental health, as well as resources that can provide assistance in a mental health crisis.
Fighting the Stigma of Mental Illness
May 15, 1-2 p.m.
Mental illness is a widespread problem. But stigma prevents many people from seeking help. This training will discuss what you can do to help fight the stigma of mental illness. It will review:
- The definition of stigma
- Statistics of mental health issues
- Myths about mental health
- Ways you can stamp out stigma
Mental Health Awareness in the Workplace
May 31, noon-1 p.m.
You spend a lot of time at work with your colleagues. But what do you do when a co-worker seems to have a mental health issue? You don't have to be a trained therapist to make a difference. In this training, participants will learn:
- Mental health statistics in the workplace
- Tools to help someone with a mental health issue
- How to have hard conversations
- Ways to offer support
