UPDATE: RTD working to resume normal light rail operations following global tech outage
RTD is resuming normal light rail operations following a global outage that significantly impacted services beginning early this morning. The global Microsoft outage initially caused disruptions for bus and light rail services, but the issues related to bus operations were resolved around 8 a.m.The global tech outage did not cause any impacts to commuter rail services on the A, B, G, and N lines.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., RTD’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) servers resumed full operations. SCADA is used to monitor light rail trains and control track operations across the system. RTD is now working to add light rail trains back into the system to resume normal operations. It will take some time for light rail operations to return to normal service levels, so customers should plan ahead and continue to expect delays.
The D Line will continue to have a bus shuttle in place due to an unrelated project to make repairs to the overhead electrical wire near Englewood Station. RTD expects the overhead wire repair work to be completed shortly and normal operations on the D Line to resume within the next 24 hours.
While RTD works to resume normal light rail operations throughout the remainder of the service day, customers are encouraged to use the Next Ride app or call Customer Care at 303.299.6000 for trip planning information. Customers can also sign up for Service Alerts to receive real-time updates. RTD thanks customers for their patience following the global tech outage’s impact to light rail services.
