RTD will provide weekday service on New Year’s Eve
The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will be providing bus and rail service on a weekday schedule on New Year’s Eve and a holiday schedule on New Year’s Day. Customers planning to use RTD for travel tomorrow and Friday can access routes and schedules on the agency’s website.
In light of pandemic restrictions in place throughout RTD’s eight-county service district that pertain to social gatherings and events, the agency will not be offering free rides on its services this year. With COVID-19 continuing to spread, Coloradans have been encouraged to celebrate the holidays at home with members of their immediate households and to celebrate virtually with friends and family members. RTD joins peer transit agencies across the United States in forgoing free rides on New Year’s Eve.
For those who have to travel during this time, regular fares will be collected, and RTD asks its customers to be its partners in safety by wearing a mask or face covering, maintaining a distance of 6 feet from others while waiting for or riding on RTD services, and limiting time spent at RTD stations to 10 minutes. Patrons are also asked to use judgment in deciding whether to board vehicles, depending upon the number of passengers already on them. To the greatest extent possible, RTD continues to limit capacity to 15 passengers on a standard bus, 20 on a larger bus and 30 on a rail car.
