RTD providing bus shuttle service between RidgeGate Parkway and Southmoor stations

Bus shuttles will temporarily replace light rail trains following accident involving a non-RTD vehicle

DENVER (April 8, 2025) –– The Regional Transportation District (RTD) is providing bus shuttle service between RidgeGate Parkway and Southmoor stations due to an accident involving a non-RTD vehicle that drove off the road near the C-470 and I-25 interchange. At approximately 1:15 a.m. today, a light rail operator reported striking a non-RTD vehicle that was on the alignment between Lincoln and County Line stations. No injuries were reported by the light rail operator or one customer on board the train at the time of the incident.

The light rail train was moved from the accident site earlier this morning, and crews were able to remove the non-RTD vehicle from the light rail alignment at approximately 9:30 a.m. Prior to a full resumption of light rail services, RTD Maintenance of Way staff will need to inspect the track infrastructure to ensure it is safe for operations. A retaining wall that runs along the rail alignment, which was struck by the car, is also being assessed by a structural engineer to determine if any damage may have been sustained.

Temporary Impact to Rail Service

Multiple bus shuttles have been set up along the Southeast Corridor to provide continued connections for E and R line customers.

  • Bus shuttles are available between the RidgeGate Parkway Station and Southmoor Station. Customers will need to transfer to the H Line to continue into downtown Denver.
  • The R Line is only operating between the Peoria Station and Florida Station. Customers will need to transfer to the H Line for service into downtown Denver, or transfer to a bus shuttle at Southmoor Station for service to the Lincoln Station.

Customers needing assistance navigating the disruption can use RTD’s Next Ride app or call Customer Care at 303.299.6000. RTD will update its online Service Alerts when light rail operations resume along the Southeast Corridor.
