RTD maintenance, rail replacement from April 26 to May 8 will affect A Line travel times

DENVER (April 21, 2025) –– The Regional Transportation District (RTD) will perform necessary maintenance that will affect commuter rail service from April 26 to May 8 on the A Line between Denver Airport and Union stations. The scheduled work, which includes rail maintenance and curved track replacement, will improve reliability and safety of the agency’s most popular rail line.

Saturday, April 26, 7 a.m.-5 p.m., bus shuttles will support A Line service between Union and Central Park stations. Shuttles will not mirror regular train schedules. Customers are encouraged to prepare for extra time for bus shuttle transfers to or from the airport.

Bus shuttle boarding locations:

  • Union Station, Gate B22 (located in underground bus concourse)
  • 38th•Blake Station, board shuttle in front of the station
  • 40th•Colorado Station, Gate B
  • Central Park Station, Gate B3

Rail service to the airport will resume following completion of work. The first train with continuous service to Denver Airport Station is scheduled to depart Union Station at 5 p.m. The first train with continuous service to Union Station is expected to depart Denver Airport Station at 5:57 p.m.

Sunday, April 27, through Wednesday, April 30, A Line service will operate every 30 minutes between Union and Denver Airport stations to allow trains to continue on a single track between the following impacted stations while work is performed:

  • Sunday and Monday: Customers board on Track 2 for both directions at 38th•Blake Station, 40th•Colorado Station and Central Park Station. Check station signs or Service Alerts for information
  • Tuesday and Wednesday: Customers board on Track 1 for both directions at 38th•Blake Station and 40th•Colorado Station. Check station signs or Service Alerts for information

Thursday, May 1 through Thursday, May 8, crews will perform track surfacing between Union and Denver Airport stations. Trains from both directions will use one track during the work, which will take place during off-peak hours.

Saturday, May 3, beginning at 3 a.m., bus shuttles will serve the A Line between Denver Airport and 61st·Peña stations while crews perform surfacing on the tracks. Rail service to the airport will resume following completion of the work. The first train with continuous service to Denver Airport Station is scheduled to depart Union Station at 7:30 a.m. The first train with continuous service to Union Station is expected to depart Denver Airport Station at 8:27 a.m.

Bus shuttle boarding locations:

  • Denver Airport Station: Arrivals at Gate 6; Departures at Gate 7
  • Located at the DEN Transit Center, Level 1, adjacent to the Westin Denver International Airport Hotel. The DEN Transit Center can be accessed at the south end of Jeppesen Terminal by exiting through the glass doors and taking the escalator or elevator down to ground level
  • 61st•Peña Station: In front of the station
