RTD hiring bus and train operators, mechanics

RTD is looking for more than a few good people to operate and repair its vehicles. Many employers are recruiting workers, but the agency is confident that it is a workplace of choice. With RTD, employees have the opportunity to serve their community and grow their career, while making a good income.

Competitive starting hourly wages are $20.58 for bus and rail operators and $26.08 for mechanics. RTD will provide training for operators; no commercial drivers license (CDL) is required. Applicants are asked to have two years of customer service experience. Learn more about the experiences of RTD’s bus and rail operators and mechanics.

"As RTD strives to be one of Colorado's employers of choice, showcasing employee growth both within our organization and throughout the communities our employees live and serve, new hires can expect to be a part of the exciting challenge with advancing how we deliver excellent service and value to our customers. What a great time to join RTD,” said Racel McMurray, RTD’s senior manager of Human Resources.

The agency offers many opportunities for employees to generate innovative ideas that have led to benefits including free transportation for work/business travel, including a free transit pass, progressive teamwork collaboration tools, customizable well-being resources, and more.

RTD is anticipating an increase in ridership this fall once students and employees start returning to work and school. Additionally, rising gas and rideshare prices, high parking lot fees, increasing traffic and the desire for healthy air quality are reasons people want to ride transit. RTD wants to be ready when customers start to hop back on board.
