RTD cheers on the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Playoffs
After suffering the heartbreak of defeat in last year’s National Basketball Association (NBA) playoffs, the Denver Nuggets are back to claim what is theirs. Standing on the precipice of immortality, the Nuggets are ready to claim the Larry O’Brien trophy and let the entire basketball world know that the NBA runs through the Mile High City.
Unlike last season, the Nuggets come into the playoffs as the team to beat in the Western Conference. With a regular season record of 53 wins and 29 losses, the Nuggets finished in first place in the conference, clinching the top seed in the playoffs. However, the Nuggets must not be complacent with a dominant regular season; the playoffs are a different beast. The team has to run a gauntlet through the best teams in the Western Conference first before taking on the winner of the Eastern Conference in a best-of-seven slugfest to earn the right to call themselves NBA champions.
The Nuggets begin their playoff campaign Sunday at Ball Arena against the winner of tonight’s play-in tournament final game, Minnesota Timberwolves vs. Oklahoma City Thunder. As top seed, the Nuggets have home court advantage throughout the playoffs until the Finals. The first round schedule is as follows:
- Game #1
- Sunday, April 16, 8:30 p.m.
- Ball Arena, Denver
