RTD celebrates the holiday season by joining the 9News Parade of Lights
Viewers of the annual 9News Parade of Lights saw a new addition to the parade lineup this year. Thirty Regional Transportation District (RTD) employees bundled up in sweaters, light-up necklaces and beanies to celebrate the holiday season, marching alongside the agency’s Winter Parade Bus. Employees from all areas of the agency participated, including Bus Operations, Communications and Engagement, Transit Police, and the Board Office. An even larger group of individuals helped behind the scenes to make RTD’s participation in the parade possible.
The Winter Parade Bus is one of RTD’s local buses. Rope and undercarriage lighting help illuminate the bus wrap details. The custom design resembles a cozy sweater and contains images of the Denver city skyline, mountain ranges and falling snowflakes. Keen observers will recognize that same pattern on the sweaters and beanies of RTD employees.
There is still a chance to catch the bus in action. The parade will air again so customers who could not attend in person can watch it from the comfort of their homes on the following dates:
- Dec. 9, 7 p.m. on KTVD
- Dec. 24, 3 p.m. on KUSA
- Dec. 25, 4:30 p.m. on KUSA
The 9News Parade of Lights was RTD’s sixth time marching in a parade this year, and RTD has more planned in 2024! Customers who want to engage with RTD at community events, parades and festivals can view the RTD Community Events Calendar to see where the team will be next.
