“Live Tracker” replaces “Commute” on Next Ride to provide real-time tracking

To better serve customers, RTD has updated the real-time vehicle tracking feature on its Next Ride application. The feature formerly known as “Commute” in the web-based trip planning application is now called “Live Tracker,” following an update that went live on Feb. 6.

The name of the feature better reflects its functionality, which allows customers to locate buses and trains in real time on a map. A system project is also underway to improve the real-time tracking of light rail vehicles across the network. The backend update is scheduled to launch in Q2 of 2025 and will ensure schedule information on digital signage at rail stations is more accurate for customers.
