Eight directors sworn in on RTD Board at tonight’s meeting

DENVER (Jan. 7, 2025) – The Regional Transportation District (RTD) swore in seven new Board directors and one incumbent tonight during a special Board of Directors meeting. The Board also elected executive committee officers for 2025.

RTD is governed by a 15-member, publicly elected Board of Directors, each of whom is elected to a four-year term and represents a specific district within the RTD service area. Board members elect officers each year to serve on the executive committee. 

The newly elected Board members sworn in today are:

Chris Nicholson, District A, which includes portions of downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, Glendale, and Lowry.

Chris Gutschenritter, District D, which includes Bow Mar, Englewood and Sheridan; portions of south Denver, southeast Lakewood and northern Littleton; and portions of unincorporated Arapahoe and Jefferson counties. 

Matt Larsen, District E, which includes part of Aurora generallywest of I-225 and south of Colfax, as well as Denver, Greenwood Village and Centennial south of Yale Avenue and generally east of I-25.

Kathleen Chandler, District F, which includes the largest portion of Aurora and portions of unincorporated areas of Arapahoe County on the eastern side of RTD.

Patrick O’Keefe, District H, which includes Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Littleton, Columbine Valley and Highlands Ranch.

Karen Benker, District I,
which includes Lafayette, all of Broomfield and Erie, most of Longmont, a portion of Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams County and Boulder County.

Brett Paglieri, District M, which includes all of Golden, Lakeside and Mountain View; the majority of Lakewood and Wheat Ridge; and portions of unincorporated Jefferson County.

The reelected Board member sworn in today is:

Julien Bouquet, District G, which includes most of Parker and Lone Tree and portions of Centennial, and Aurora. 

The executive committee officers selected for 2025 are:

Chair, Julien Bouquet
He was elected to the RTD Board in 2020. He represents District G, which includes most of Parker and Lone Tree and portions of Centennial, and Aurora. 

First Vice Chair, Patrick O’Keefe
He was elected in 2024 and represents District H,which includes Cherry Hills Village, Greenwood Village, Centennial, Littleton, Columbine Valley and Highlands Ranch.

Second Vice Chair, Troy Whitmore
Elected in 2018, he represents District K, which includes Brighton, Commerce City, much of Thornton and unincorporated Adams County.

Treasurer, Karen Benker
She was elected in 2024 and previously served on the RTD Board, 1992-2000, representing District M. She currently represents District I, which includes Lafayette, all of Broomfield and Erie, most of Longmont, a portion of Thornton, and portions of unincorporated Adams County and Boulder County.

Secretary, Chris Nicholson
He was elected in 2024 and represents District A, which includes portions of downtown Denver, Cherry Creek, Glendale, and Lowry.
