RTD A Line schedule changes, delays expected this weekend
RTD will conduct grade crossing work this weekend at the Havana Street Crossing that will involve significant adjustments to train schedules and frequencies.
The work, scheduled to take place Saturday, Oct. 26, through Sunday, Oct. 27 beginning at the start of service, will necessitate single-tracking of trains with all boarding on Track 2 at Central Park and Peoria stations. Trains will operate at 30-minute frequencies with four-car train sets. Customers should plan for 10-minute delays on westbound trips and allow extra travel time due to reduced train frequency. Regular service will resume on Monday, Oct. 28.
This weekend’s work is part of a nearly three-week, planned surfacing program to smooth commuter rail track along the A Line between Union Station and Denver Airport Station which began Monday and is expected to continue through early November.
The planned surfacing work will take place from 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. Sundays through Fridays, with possible work on Friday and Saturday nights, for approximately three weeks, weather permitting.
Train operators are required to sound horns under circumstances that require additional safety precautions, such as when traveling through a work area.
Future weekend planned A Line maintenance work will take place on Saturday, Nov. 2. From start of service through approximately 4 p.m., crews will perform track surfacing work between Peoria and Denver Airport stations. Trains will operate at 15-minute frequencies between Union Station and Peoria Station. Bus shuttles will be in place to continue travel between Peoria and Denver Airport stations.
On Nov. 2, bus shuttles will board at the following locations:
- Peoria Station – Gate E
- 40th Avenue and Airport·Gateway Park Station – Gate A
- 61st·Peña Station – Board next to the platform
- Denver Airport Station – Gate 6

Running multiple trains across the lines throughout the day inevitably leads to shifting and settling of the ballast, the rocks beneath the tracks. To protect trains, tracks and customers, RTD includes regular surfacing as part of its overall maintenance program. The program corrects the rail alignment for a smoother ride and is essential for delivering safe and reliable transit service.
