RailService Disruption

RTD will provide bus shuttles Feb. 11-13 between Southmoor and Florida stations during extended H and R line maintenance windows

RTD Staff

RTD will perform track maintenance along the I-225 corridor between Florida and Southmoor stations Tuesday, Feb. 11, through Thursday, Feb. 13. The extended maintenance window will temporarily impact light rail service on the H and R lines between the five light rail stations. H and R line trains will not operate on their normal routes between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m. each day of the three-day period.

Regular light rail service on the H and R lines will resume on Friday, Feb. 14.

Bus shuttles will replace H and R line trains between Southmoor and Florida stations while the rail work is underway. Trains will resume normal schedules and operations outside of the daily scheduled maintenance hours.

  • H Line will not operate between Florida and Southmoor stations between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m., Feb. 11-13.
  • R line trains will not operate south of Florida Station between 4:30 a.m. and approximately 12:30 p.m., Feb. 11-13.
  • R Line service will continue to operate between Peoria and Florida stations.
  • Bus shuttle service will connect customers between Florida and Southmoor stations during the maintenance work.
  • R Line customers will need to connect to the E Line for travel between Southmoor and RidgeGate Parkway stations.

Boarding for bus shuttles will take place at the following gates:

  • Southmoor Station – Gate A
  • Dayton Station – Bus bridge sign in bus loop
  • Nine Mile Station – Gate E
  • Iliff Station – Gate A
  • Florida Station – Bus bridge sign next to station

During the three-day period, crews will work to mitigate railhead surface defects by conducting rail grinding between Florida and Southmoor stations. The agency will use the daily extended maintenance windows to expedite necessary repairs, with the goal of lifting the remaining speed restrictions in Slow Zone #3. Completion of maintenance work along the light rail corridor will depend on several factors, including weather forecasts. More information about RTD’s light rail speed restrictions is available online.

Customers whose trips are impacted by the temporary rail disruption are encouraged to visit RTD’s Next Ride app to see schedules or plan a trip using alternate bus routes. Customers are also encouraged to sign up for Service Alerts.

RTD thanks its customers for their patience during this work.
