RTD Staff

RTD will not operate the D, H and L light rail lines during two New Year’s Eve fireworks shows in downtown Denver. RTD will provide zero fares through a partnership with Molson Coors from 7 p.m. Dec. 31 to 7 a.m. Jan. 1.

The city and county of Denver is hosting its annual New Year’s Eve fireworks shows at 9 p.m. and midnight on the 16th Street Mall. To accommodate the shows, RTD will make the following service adjustments:

  • Starting at 8 p.m., D and H Line trains will not operate north of Theatre District•Convention Center Station. The trains will operate normally south of Theatre District•Convention Center Station
  • L Line service will be suspended at 8 p.m.,resuming on Jan. 1; Bus Route 43 provides an alternative service option
  • Free MallRide service will operate a normal schedule on New Year’s Eve as crowds allow but will pause service during both fireworks shows

The agency will operate service for bus and rail on New Year’s Eve according to a regular schedule, with extra rail cars added to trains where possible to accommodate customers attending New Year’s Eve events. On New Year’s Day, RTD will operate a Sunday/holiday schedule. Customers are urged to check schedules for final bus and train times as some services will not operate after midnight.

RTD is partnering again with Molson Coors for the 16th year to encourage metro Denver residents and visitors to celebrate responsibly this New Year’s Eve by providing zero fare transit services on all RTD bus and rail routes – as well as Access-a-Ride and FlexRide services – from 7 p.m., Dec. 31 through 7 a.m., Jan. 1. Customers can plan their trips using the Next Ride web app.
