RTD Celebrates Read Across America with Transit-Themed Storytime
RTD joined students at Leroy Elementary in Northglenn and Bear Creek Elementary in Boulder to celebrate Read Across America Week with a special transit-themed story time. Through engaging children’s books about transportation, RTD staff helped spark curiosity about public transit while fostering a love of reading.
Connecting Literacy and Transit
Read Across America Week is a nationwide initiative that encourages literacy by connecting young readers with diverse books and storytelling. By engaging with youth and fostering community connections, RTD is helping to shape the next generation’s experience with transit.
"Public transportation is about more than getting from place to place—it’s about access, adventure, and opportunity," said Taylor Curtis, RTD Youth Engagement Specialist. "By sharing these stories, we hope to inspire curiosity and a love of reading while showing students how transit connects us all."
Students eagerly listened as RTD team members brought stories to life, encouraging discussion about how public transportation helps people travel, connect, and explore their communities.
